HatsanUSA, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, has issued a recall for its Blitz and Blitz 777 air rifles due to a serious safety risk. The U. S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, citing a potential hazard where the air rifles can fire unexpectedly when the bolt is released before the rifle is fully cocked. This defect poses a risk of serious injury or death from a projectile hazard.
The recall affects all units of the Blitz and Blitz 777 pellet shooting air rifles sold from February 2020 through March 2026. These air rifles, available in . 22, .
25, and . 30 calibers, are gas-operated and feature a select-fire pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) system. They are equipped with a synthetic stock, a carbon fiber air tank mounted beneath the barrel, and a rotary magazine feed.
The model name 'BLITZ' or 'BLITZ 777' is marked on the left side of the receiver, along with the Hatsan logo and a graphic of a bow and arrow.
Consumers who own these air rifles are advised to stop using them immediately and ensure they are unloaded. HatsanUSA is offering a free trigger assembly replacement, which will be mailed to consumers along with instructions. For those who prefer not to perform the replacement themselves, HatsanUSA will provide a prepaid package to ship the product back for inspection and replacement.
HatsanUSA has received one report of an accidental misfire related to the recalled air rifles, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers can contact HatsanUSA toll-free at 877-750-3375 from 8:30 a. m.
to 4 p. m. CT Monday through Friday, or via email at blitzrecall@hatsanusa.
com. More information is also available on their website.
The CPSC emphasizes the importance of adhering to recall notices, as federal law prohibits the sale of products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC. This recall is part of the CPSC's ongoing efforts to protect the public from unreasonable risks associated with consumer products, which have historically resulted in significant injuries and fatalities.
