Actress Selma Blair was taken into custody after allegedly attacking flight attendants on a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles International Airport to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, involved Blair reportedly biting and punching flight staff and attempting to open an airplane door mid-flight.
The Port Authority Police Department and the FBI responded to the situation upon the plane's arrival at JFK. According to reports, Blair, 54, attacked two flight attendants, leaving one with a bite mark and another with a cut. One of the injured flight attendants required hospital treatment.
Blair was restrained on the plane, which was placed on lockdown, but she was not duct-taped. Upon landing, she was taken into custody and transported to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation. During her transport, Blair allegedly assaulted a Port Authority officer by kicking her repeatedly in the head and also assaulted a nurse at the hospital.
Blair had a support dog with her during the incident, which her lawyer later took possession of at the hospital. The actress, who publicly revealed her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018, was met by her lawyer at the hospital.
The FBI confirmed it had been contacted regarding a potential assault aboard the flight, and the Federal Aviation Administration announced it would investigate the passenger disturbance. The situation remains under investigation, and no further legal actions have been announced at this time.
