Heavy rains and potential flash floods are expected as tropical moisture from Hurricane Polo sweeps through Texas. Abbott instructed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to bolster state emergency response capacities, activating additional resources.
As of Tuesday morning, the operations center will run continuously. Over 1,900 state responders and 1,500 pieces of equipment stand ready, with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service deploying Swiftwater Rescue Boat Squads. The Texas National Guard, equipped with high-profile vehicles and Blackhawk helicopters, alongside Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, are poised for rescue missions.
