Eli Lilly Breaks Ground on $6.5 Billion Plant in Houston

Governor Abbott commemorates largest API manufacturing investment in Texas.

Governor Greg Abbott attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Eli Lilly and Company's new $6.5 billion manufacturing site in Houston, located at Generation Park in Harris County. This project is the largest investment in active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing in Texas history and is set to create over 600 high-paying jobs. The facility will span roughly 1 million square feet. Abbott highlighted Texas's leadership in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with Houston already home to the world's largest medical center. Furthermore, the state has supported this initiative through a $5.5 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant, and it has also been approved under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation program.
