A Texas man has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for making online threats against former President Donald Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Francisco Jesus Mena, 37, from Springtown, Texas, received the sentence after pleading guilty in June to one count of threatening a federal official.
According to the U. S. Department of Justice, Mena made several online posts in which he threatened to assault and murder President Trump.
In one of these posts, Mena repeatedly wrote 'KILL TRUMP.' Additionally, Mena's threats extended to ICE agents, as he stated he would 'respond with a gunfight' if they came to his residence.
Mena's online activity also included claims of having previously stabbed an ICE agent and encouraging violence against federal officers and individuals with 'blue eyes and white skin.' Furthermore, he offered payment to anyone willing to harm the president.
The threatening posts were made over a period of two weeks, highlighting a sustained pattern of threatening behavior. The case was handled by federal authorities, who took the threats seriously due to their violent nature and the potential risk to public safety.
Mena's sentencing concludes this legal matter, with the court imposing a nearly three-year prison term for his actions. The case underscores the serious legal consequences of making threats against federal officials and the importance of maintaining public safety.
