NASA and Boeing Update Starliner Crew Missions
Plans expand for Starliner spacecraft as NASA and Boeing aim for additional missions and new rocket certifications.

NASA and Boeing have outlined plans for the Starliner spacecraft involving additional crew missions and certification of a new rocket for low Earth orbit transport. They aim to have the spacecraft support International Space Station operations by returning to flight and introducing multiple transportation options through the Commercial Crew Program. A fifth and sixth flight to the space station are in the works as Starliner prepares its return by 2028.
In the meantime, the Vulcan rocket will be certified after the Atlas V’s retirement. Improvements, including thermal modifications, are being evaluated following an investigation that made 61 recommendations for mission enhancements.
