NASA Unveils PRIMA Telescope for Universe Exploration

PRIMA is set to be the pioneering mission of NASA's new Probe Explorers class.

NASA has announced its latest mission, PRIMA, marking the debut of the Probe Explorers class. This far-infrared telescope is designed to delve into the radiant energy lingering in the far-infrared spectrum, aiming to unlock secrets of the universe's history and evolution. With a project cost capped at $1.2 billion, PRIMA advances to Phase B of development, managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It includes partnerships with NASA's Goddard and Marshall Space Flight Centers, as well as international participation from agencies in Canada, Europe, and Asia. Scheduled to launch in 2033, PRIMA plans a five-year mission of deep-space exploration.
