Fatima Zahra El Mansouri has been appointed as Morocco's first female prime minister. The 50-year-old leader was chosen by King Mohammed VI after her centrist party, the Authenticity and Modernity Party, secured the most seats in recent parliamentary elections. This makes El Mansouri only the second woman to head a government in the Arab world, following Tunisia's Najla Bouden. Previously, she served as the mayor of Marrakesh and as a minister in the coalition government.
