Nigerian Leader Celebrates Cultural Achievements

President Tinubu congratulates Olugbile Holloway for his impact on art and heritage management.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded Mr. Olugbile Holloway for his recognition on the inaugural TIME100 Art list. Mr. Holloway, serving as Director-General of Nigeria's National Commission for Museums and Monuments since March 2024, has made significant strides in cultural heritage preservation. Under his leadership, 119 Benin Bronzes were repatriated from the Netherlands, 116 from the University of Cambridge, and 18 together with four Ikom monoliths from Switzerland. The Commission also pioneered Nigeria's first digital museum, showcasing over 200 3D-scanned objects from the National Museum in Lagos, which has been renovated to modern standards. This advance reflects an essential act of historical justice for Nigeria.
