The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting an extensive search off the coast of Massachusetts for a missing medical plane that vanished during a flight from Bermuda to Boston. The aircraft, a Gulfstream G-100, was performing a medical evacuation when it lost contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) early Saturday morning.

The plane, which departed from L. F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda, was en route to Boston Logan International Airport.

The FAA issued a search-and-rescue alert notice for the aircraft at approximately 1:20 a. m. local time on Saturday.

Despite efforts, the plane did not arrive at its scheduled destination, Massport confirmed.

According to reports, there were six individuals on board the air ambulance jet. The aircraft is registered in Canada with the registration number C-GJRP and is owned by Latitude Air Ambulance, based in Hamilton, Ontario. The director of flight operations at Latitude Air Ambulance confirmed that the mission involved a medical evacuation in Bermuda.

The search operation is currently focused off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. The FAA is working in coordination with the Coast Guard and the Rescue Coordination Center to locate the missing aircraft. As of now, there have been no reports of any sightings or recovery of the plane.

The disappearance of the air ambulance has prompted a significant response from search and rescue teams as they continue to scour the area in hopes of finding the missing jet and its passengers. Further updates on the search efforts and any developments are awaited.
