President Donald J. Trump returned to South Carolina to highlight significant economic and safety achievements under his administration. During his visit, President Trump emphasized the benefits of his policies for workers, families, seniors, and communities across the state.

Economic Investments and Tax Relief

President Trump underscored the impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts, which have provided substantial financial relief to South Carolinians. Approximately one million seniors in the state are expected to pay zero federal taxes on Social Security benefits due to a new senior deduction. Additionally, South Carolina taxpayers received average refunds of $3,476 in 2026.

The tax cuts have also safeguarded 86,000 jobs, $15 billion in state GDP, and $8 billion in workers' wages. Governor Henry McMaster submitted new Opportunity Zone nominations to the Treasury in September 2026, aiming to unlock private capital and economic opportunities statewide.

Several companies have announced major investments in South Carolina, contributing to job creation and economic growth. NorthMark Strategies is committing $2. 8 billion to build a high-performance computing center in Spartanburg, while Octapharma is investing $1.

5 billion in a critical care manufacturing facility in Rock Hill. Other notable investments include Ferrara Candy Company's $675 million operation in Orangeburg County and Okonite's $400 million high-voltage electric cable plant, which will create 105 jobs.

Strengthening Rural Healthcare and Infrastructure

The Trump administration has focused on improving healthcare access in rural communities through the Rural Health Transformation Program. South Carolina secured $200 million in first-year funding, and $167.3 million in grants were awarded to 228 rural providers for primary care, maternal care, pediatrics, and behavioral health.

Infrastructure improvements have also been a priority, with a $23. 5 million grant awarded to replace 18 aging bridges across nine counties. The FY 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) authorized $161.

7 million for a nuclear power training facility expansion at Joint Base Charleston and $166. 7 million for new recruit barracks at Parris Island.

Crime Reduction and Public Safety

President Trump highlighted significant reductions in crime rates across South Carolina. Violent crime fell by 11%, property crime by 14%, and murders by 17% last year. In Charleston, overall crime decreased by 36% in 2025, with homicides down 29% from the five-year average.

The administration's support for law enforcement is evident, with at least 72 agencies in South Carolina signing 287(g) agreements with ICE to enhance public safety.

President Trump's visit to South Carolina underscores his administration's commitment to fostering economic growth, improving healthcare access, and enhancing public safety in the state.
