NASA's Dexterous Robotics Team Advances Space Robotics

NASA's Dexterous Robotics Team, a 16-member group at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, is pioneering advanced robotics technology to support human space exploration. Part of NASA's Robotic System Technology Branch, the team, led by Shaun Azimi, specializes in creating robots capable of performing tasks that typically require human hands. The team is divided into two subgroups focusing on mechatronics and software, with members possessing a strong background in electronics, mechanics, and software development.

Many team members previously worked on NASA's Robonaut 2 and Valkyrie projects, the latter being NASA's first bipedal humanoid robot. Robonaut 2 has already demonstrated its capabilities aboard the International Space Station for seven years, paving the way for future robotic innovations.
