Siemens has released patches to address multiple critical vulnerabilities in several of its products, as reported by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on October 22, 2026. These vulnerabilities, if exploited, could allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, and disrupt system operations.
Vulnerabilities in SIMATIC S7 Webserver API
The . NET Client Library for Siemens SIMATIC S7 Webserver API contains vulnerabilities identified as CVE-2026-85114 and CVE-2026-85115. These flaws could allow attackers to write arbitrary files outside the intended directory and obtain plaintext restore passwords from error messages.
Siemens has released updates to versions 3. 3. 61 and 3.
3. 62 to mitigate these risks. The CVSS base scores for these vulnerabilities are 7.
5 and 5. 5, respectively.
Industrial Edge App Publisher Vulnerabilities
The Siemens Industrial Edge App Publisher is affected by vulnerabilities CVE-2026-78556 and CVE-2026-78557, which involve improper certificate validation and unescaped data rendering. These issues could enable attackers to impersonate the management server and execute arbitrary code on local machines. Siemens recommends updating to version 1.
27. 9 or later to address these vulnerabilities, which have a CVSS base score of 8. 3.
WinCC Database Privilege Escalation
Multiple versions of SIMATIC WinCC, including V7. 5, V8. 0, and V8.
1, are affected by a database privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2026-59241). This flaw allows authenticated users with database access to execute commands on the host system. Siemens has released updates for these versions and is preparing further fixes.
The CVSS base score for this vulnerability is 8. 8.
Additional Product Vulnerabilities
Siemens has also addressed vulnerabilities in other products, including the Industrial Edge Device Kit, Capital Embedded AR Classic, and SIMATIC IPCs. These vulnerabilities range from path traversal issues to out-of-bounds read vulnerabilities, with CVSS scores varying from 5. 3 to 7.
7. Siemens recommends updating to the latest versions and applying network segmentation and protective mechanisms.
CISA advises organizations to implement defensive measures to minimize the risk of exploitation. This includes securing network access, using firewalls, and ensuring devices are not accessible from the internet. Siemens emphasizes the importance of operating devices in a protected IT environment and following their operational guidelines for industrial security.
Organizations are encouraged to stay informed about cybersecurity best practices and regularly update their systems to protect against potential threats. Further information on Siemens' security advisories and updates can be found on their official website.
