Ibrahem Johnson, a 25-year-old resident of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 238 months in prison for committing a series of armed robberies in the city. The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Mary Kay Costello, also includes five years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Johnson's criminal activities took place over a two-week period in 2025, during which he targeted three stores. He was charged by indictment in August 2025 and pleaded guilty in May 2026 to multiple charges, including three counts of interference in interstate commerce by robbery, two counts of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Details of the Robberies

The first robbery occurred on May 28, 2025, at a Family Dollar store on the 5700 block of Walnut Street. During this incident, Johnson threatened the employees by telling them to "comply or get shot" before fleeing with cash from the register.

On June 8, 2025, Johnson struck again, this time at a Rite-Aid Pharmacy on the 5600 block of Chestnut Street. He brandished a gun at an employee and demanded money, saying, "give me the money or I’ll shoot you." After obtaining cash, he fled the scene.

The third robbery took place on June 11, 2025, at another Family Dollar store located on the 5800 block of Woodland Avenue. Johnson brandished a firearm at a store employee and ordered them to "get back" before making off with cash.

Arrest and Investigation

Johnson's crime spree came to an end shortly after the third robbery. Approximately 30 minutes after the Woodland Avenue robbery, a Philadelphia police officer recognized Johnson from a radio alert. Following a brief foot chase, Johnson was apprehended, and a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun was found in a bag he was carrying.

The investigation into Johnson's crimes was conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Kwambina Coker and Katherine Shulman.

Johnson's sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that highlighted the swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies to bring a dangerous offender to justice.
