Nigeria Advances Digital Free Zones Initiative
President Tinubu directs enhanced strategy for Nigeria’s tech and service sectors.
Nigeria is advancing its Digital Free Zones initiative, aimed at facilitating global capital access for local tech firms and boosting job prospects for the youth. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked the Minister of Trade, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, to create a comprehensive plan for a full launch within 180 days. The initiative includes Itana, the first Digital Free Zone, supported by a substantial $500 million investment from the Africa Finance Corporation at Lagos's Alaro City. The Presidential Steering Committee is set to refine Nigeria's free zone regulations, taxation, and more, ensuring the nation is well-positioned to capitalize on Africa’s rapidly growing digital economy.
