Trenton Murphy, a 28-year-old resident of Kittery, Maine, has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy. According to the U. S.

Attorney's Office, Murphy conspired with a Massachusetts-based drug trafficking organization to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. Following his prison term, Murphy will also serve five years of supervised release.

Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) uncovered Facebook messages between Murphy and the leader of the drug trafficking organization, which detailed arrangements for drug transactions. During the conspiracy, Murphy purchased nearly two pounds of fentanyl and three pounds of methamphetamine from the organization, which he then sold to his own customers. Additionally, Murphy traded a firearm with the organization in exchange for drugs.

The investigation was spearheaded by the DEA, with assistance from the Nashua Police Department, New Hampshire State Police, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cesar Vega and Mike Shannon.

U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan emphasized the impact of Murphy's actions, stating, "This defendant was a key part of a criminal network that distributed destructive drugs such as fentanyl and meth in our communities, wreaking havoc on so many New Hampshire families, and will now be spending significant time behind bars." DEA Special Agent in Charge Jarod Forget added, "Drug traffickers who put profits ahead of human lives must be held accountable for the harm they bring to our communities."

This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, which aims to dismantle criminal organizations operating within the United States. The HSTF is a collaborative effort involving multiple federal and state law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, HSI, IRS, DEA, ATF, USMS, and DSS, with the prosecution led by the U. S.

Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire. The initiative focuses on eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations, with a particular emphasis on crimes involving children and violent criminal aliens.
