Dondre Minor, a 30-year-old resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm while under federal supervision. The sentence was handed down on October 19, 2026, following Minor's guilty plea earlier this year.

High-Speed Chase and Arrest

In January 2026, Minor was involved in a high-speed chase with police in Cedar Rapids. The pursuit began when officers attempted to stop Minor's vehicle, leading him to drive onto the Coe College campus. The chase ended when Minor crashed his car into the backyard of a residential building.

After the crash, Minor attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Officers discovered a 9mm pistol with an extended magazine on Minor at the time of his arrest.

Previous Convictions and Supervision

At the time of the incident, Minor had been released from federal prison for less than a year and was serving a term of federal supervised release. He had previously been convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The recent sentence of 111 months' imprisonment was imposed by United States District Court Chief Judge C.

J. Williams. In addition to the prison term, Minor will serve a three-year term of supervised release.

It is noted that there is no parole in the federal system.

Investigation and Prosecution

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lisa C. Williams and investigated by the Cedar Rapids Safe Streets Task Force. This task force includes representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cedar Rapids Police Department. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.

Minor is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal and will remain there until he is transported to a federal prison. The case file number is 26-CR-0026.
