According to an initial, single report, Canada has confirmed its very first human case of the H5N1 avian influenza. The patient, a 13-year-old from British Columbia, experienced severe symptoms, including respiratory failure. Fortunately, after receiving intensive care at a hospital, the young patient has successfully recovered. This marks the first known instance of H5N1 being acquired in Canada.
