Arizona Woman Sentenced for $69M Medicaid Fraud

Rita Ntusa Anagho received a 14-year sentence for a large-scale Medicaid fraud scheme.

Rita Ntusa Anagho, a 54-year-old from San Tan Valley, Arizona, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. This comes after her involvement in a scheme that fraudulently billed Arizona's Medicaid agency over $69 million within less than a year. The fraudulent activities involved many Native American patients who were covered under a specific state Medicaid program that offered higher reimbursement rates. Anagho is also ordered to pay nearly $55 million in restitution and forfeit around $9.5 million obtained from seven bank accounts linked to the fraud, as well as almost $7 million in real estate properties.
