A period of strong wind gusts is expected on Saturday as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move into eastern Kentucky. Southeasterly winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected. The strongest winds are expected during the afternoon and should coincide with the arrival of the leading bands of rain. Once rainfall becomes steady, many areas will see the winds lighten, except at elevations above 1,500 feet where the gusty winds are expected to continue into Saturday night. Isolated gusts over 40 mph are possible over the highest ridge tops. The gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and decor.
