A concerning incident unfolded at a Michigan daycare this week when a toddler brought a loaded handgun in their backpack. The daycare, located in Canton Township, just west of Detroit, witnessed the child pulling a holstered firearm from the bag on Monday. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The local police department has initiated an investigation, and one parent has been detained. Notably, this parent is not the law enforcement officer connected to the case. No charges were filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
The daycare staff was commended by Police Chief Joseph Bialy for their adept response. The gun was not believed to be a service weapon.
