Tinubu Supports Major Port Development in Ogun State

Nigeria's President Tinubu endorsed new agreements in Paris to enhance trade capacity through Ogun State's Blue Marine Zone.

In Paris, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu endorsed the signing of key agreements to develop the Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone and Gateway Deep Seaport. Governor Dapo Abiodun represented Ogun State, with members of his administration, as well as Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and other officials present. The agreements with DP World promise significant infrastructure investments, including a new port with a four-kilometre berth and 18-metre draft, designed to decongest Lagos ports and accommodate larger vessels. Tinubu assured that the Federal Government would provide the necessary regulatory support. The projects are set to inject over $7 billion into the economy and create more than 50,000 jobs, bolstering Nigeria’s position in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
