NYU and UPMC Agree to Halt Gender-Affirming Care for Minors

In a significant development, the Department of Justice has announced settlements with New York University Langone Hospitals and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. These agreements resolve federal investigations into the hospitals' provision of gender-affirming procedures for minors. As part of the agreements, both NYU and UPMC will stop providing minors with gender-affirming treatments, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. Additionally, NYU has agreed to pay $8.5 million, and UPMC will pay $950,000 to settle the investigations.
