Nigeria Launches Major Poverty Reduction Initiative
The NPRGS aims to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty through targeted training programs.
Nigeria has embarked on a significant poverty reduction plan, the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, aiming to lift 100 million citizens from poverty within ten years. Launched in Abuja on June 30, 2025, the initiative included a 10-day training program in cybersecurity and web development, attracting over 7,000 applicants. Successful participants received laptops and completion certificates. The project plans to train 200 individuals in each of Nigeria's geopolitical zones, benefiting 1,200 youths in its initial phase. Upcoming sessions include Oyo State trainees learning Graphics and AI design, Makeup, and Fashion designing from September 28, 2026. Meanwhile, Enugu and Kebbi States will focus on skills like solar energy installation and agriculture. Every participant will take home a complete training kit.
