NASA Hosts Moon Night at Goddard Space Center

Join the annual lunar celebration with activities and talks on September 19th.

In April, NASA's Artemis II mission marked a historic return to the Moon, capturing global attention as four humans orbited our celestial neighbor for the first time in over half a century. Now, on Saturday, September 19th, NASA invites the public to gaze skyward once more during the International Observe the Moon Night. This yearly celebration, underway since 2010, will take place at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, from 6 to 9 p.m. Eastern. Visitors can enjoy interactive activities, artwork creation, and even capture memories at a photo kiosk. Weather permitting, telescopes will offer views of the Moon and other celestial sights. Inside, guests can marvel at an authentic Apollo 14 Moon rock. At 6:30 p.m., Dr. Amanda Nahm will discuss the lunar science from Artemis II, followed by Ernie Wright at 7:30 p.m., who will delve into how data brings the Moon to life through visualizations.
