Memphis Man Pleads Guilty to Firearm Charges

Kokou Sanoumegah admits to illegal possession of firearms and a machinegun.

A 29-year-old Memphis resident, Kokou Sanoumegah, has pled guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms and an illegal machinegun. The plea was officially announced by United States Attorney D. Michael Dunavant for the Western District of Tennessee. On April 16, 2025, a private fugitive recovery unit found Sanoumegah in Memphis, where he had active arrest warrants. Authorities discovered a Glock 17 9mm pistol in his waistband at the time. The case highlights ongoing legal efforts against illegal firearm possession in the region.
