Atlas Building Composites develops a robotics platform to create housing materials from single-use plastics.
According to an initial, single report, Atlas Building Composites, an MIT spinout, is transforming plastic waste into durable building materials. Their AI-powered manufacturing platform recycles plastics without water and uses large-scale composite additive manufacturing. Atlas has already supplied the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with materials to build a 40-foot bridge. Founders Perez and Pouliot plan to deploy their system worldwide, aiming to convert plastic pollution into materials for 1 billion homes over 30 years. Using Atlas' technology, each factory cell can produce components for a small home daily while avoiding the environmental costs of conventional building methods.
